The penultimate episode is here and it really doesn’t feel like an end is neigh here… Plenty going on but the main part is Klancain who has “rescued” Asseylum from Slaine in the chaos of the battle at the Moon base. Klancain decides to side with the Princess and go oppose to Slaine who tries to get the two to return and sets up a second branch in the Vars forces. One loyal to Slaine and the war against Earth and the other loyal to Asseylem who gains power from Klancain and Mazuurek.
Having evaded Slaines grasp thanks to Klancain, Asseylum seems torn up over his change and how he is fanning the flames of the war now. Eddelrittuo comes to his defense strangely saying he hasn’t changed and that he is doing everyone for what he believes to be her best interest. She isn’t totally wrong be even still we just got away from a scene of him trying to get Klancain to return her while making arrangements with his forces to attack his landing castle to get her while trying to slow down Klancain’s escape by stalling. He’s also out right trying to cripple Earth in his latest move while Asseylum flat-out loves the planet.
Asseylum decides to give her Grandfather the Emperor of Vars a long overdue visit to try to get him to end the war. Last time we had learned something was wrong with the Emperor and here we see a pitiful old man fighting with illness and old age hardly able to remember anything clearly or have a consistent conversation. His ramblings deeply hurt Asseylum as she is confronted by someone she loves but can’t recognize from his condition and has to bear though as best she can.
As for Inaho, he is still dealing with his exhaustion from using his eye having been picked up by Inko. Everyone on the ship are readying for the final major offensive vs the Moon base and we get the normal everyone trying to stay positive while giving off some major death flags and the crew preps for their latest mission. Inko has an attempt at trying to make Inaho not go out in his new souped up mecha the Sleipnir Final Showdown Spec! Calm makes a rare appearance to tell her how ineffective her attempts at watching out for our protagonist is given Yuki also failed to make him stay in bed. As the final showdown gets under way however and Slaine is ready to sick his Orbital Knights on Earth, Asseylum takes over the broadcast and crowns herself the Empress of Vars and succeeding her Grandfather and her first decree is there will be peace! Also she is getting married to Klancain… wait what?
Meh this one was fine, it feels like it was dragged out here to try to make the final just one episode but at the same time it doesn’t feel like we have the time to wrap all of this train up in time. Klancain still feels really last-minute here and now we even have him maybe ending up with Asseylum… I bet some of the shipping fans are going nuts, it might seem arranged for power reasons but even still to see her not end up with Inaho or Slaine will be pretty amusing. 6.5/10
